I think that in todays market some people are prepared to take their profit and run domainers or otherwise.
It is very easy to say after the event that "I would have bought that".
How long was the name sitting at Afternic or elsewhere without a bid. When do you say enough is enough and let names go.
Anyway, good buy /sell whatever the circumstances.
maybe $1500 is only for tax reason (lowering your cap gain).

Last time I was bidding on LLL .com names they were not going for cheap. I assume there was a lack of interest this time
