So, very often people from America / Asia ask, why european countries use so many hyphens in their domain names.
Hyphens are not well liked under domainers, as the non-hyphen version is usually much more worth.
The answer to this mystery is quite easy:
It is the capitalization of words.
As you see, in german for example, many (!) more words are being capitalized, than in english.
Here is a quick lesson: https://www.thoughtco.com/capitalization-in-german-4069437
For ex, when you say car in english, you say
Auto in german.
You say
Mann in german, and man in english.
Therefore, you very often need something, that works as seperation mark.
As you are used to non-capitalized words in english, you don't need a seperation mark (hyphen).
Your eye has no problems with seeing the words in low cap.
While in germany, austria, switzerland, and maybe some other european countries, it is the contrary.
And that is the solution to this decade old mystery ... : )
Take care.
