Thanks to Epik

So a huge thanks to Epik for taking things in the right direction for domain investors and business owners.

And this is from someone who had about 4-5 domain stolen by Rob at Epik under the old ownership. So I was reluctant to have anything to do with Epik going forward, but the new owner has seemed to take things in a commendable direction.

Epik helps individuals and business entities maintain their intellectual property. So our first priority is focused on that, not making money from dropping domains at the expense of our clients. We have one product group dedicated to refinements and development of Epik for our customer base and one for domain investors. It's obviously been slow going as Epik was quite a dumpster fire when we bought it. Hopefully we'll pick up more momentum. We're glad to be in a position where we don't need to take advantage of registrants for our model to work. And we're glad to see that you like what we're doing and wish you the best of luck in your domain investing. We're here to help.

Out of the blue, they started sending me money for domains that I let expire. Every domain I let expire automatically goes to DomainLiquidate.com. If someone buys it there, I get 91% of the proceeds.

I think you meant NameLiquidate.com.

For those wondering if NameLiquidate.com accepts non-Epik registered domains like before, the current answer appears to be No.

  • Only domains registered with Epik can be listed (external domains aren’t eligible).
  • Your domains must have more than 15 days before expiration.
  • Other FAQ

I dont want NameLiquidate to list non-epik domains and i dont even use NameLiquidate.

For simplicity’s sake, it makes everything easier. Also, it avoids common transfer problems.

91% in master sucks equals zero.

I'm not sure what you're hinting at but last time I checked DD and GD actually payed what they owed me. Epik ran off with the money to do some home innovation.

I'm hinting at fact that unless u auction your name yourself with some bs x days or months til expiry left clause then they wont give u nothing when it sells after expiry. if u cant get cash at epik for it then it sucks... but the idea of this should be used by all registrars.

Thanks for clearing that up. I agree. Registrars should pass us a piece of the pie as basically they're auctioning domains not owned by them...

I blame ICANN for this. It's a loophole they refuse to fix.

GoDaddy had some pilot program back in the day where they split revenue 50/50 on expired domain sales.

That was many years ago though. Something like that would probably be in the interest of all parties as their expired domains get the most action.

There is more upside for GoDaddy in a domain expiring more than being renewed in many cases.

Never knew that. Thanks for the info!

A revenue share for expired domains is a great idea. Would love to see @Dynadot have something like that. Too much baggage and bad blood with Epik to have it make a big difference, but one of the up and comers like Dynadot, Sav, Porkbun or Spaceship could lock down a lot more of the domainer market that way.

yeah... since I'm shrinking my folio now by a lot I'm letting some goodies expire... most my names are at sav... but they have a pathetically insane 2month til expiry to post an auction.. that's too much time to give up on a reg... dyna bit better. like 15days. but still u gotta keep track of all dates and list yourself... sucks.. I did get llike 500 bucks on sav from few dozen names.. but I'll neverdo it again for 2 months worth of sale time potential. not sure what the min til expiry days it's on gd... oh wait lol u cant list auctions on gd no more at all... well that settles that then lol

Might have to run the numbers but I'd probably consolidate my entire portfolio to a registrar that would make me benefit enough from expired auctions.

Isn't this the way name liquidate is supposed to work though? So they are doing their job which is wonderful. Imagine everyone did the job they were supposed to.

Congrats on your proceeds and if this keeps up a great precedent on a registrar with a bad history.

Lol, sharp :).

Seriously though, the ones mentioned up thread have a large enough reach to justify (maybe) paying a little more but being able to offset that against proceeds from expired auction payouts.

hmmm not sure if I follow u or u follow me but to recap all things.. no registrar besides apparently epik is paying us any percent from our expired names. I hope it will change but I'm quite sure it won't. cause of registrar greed of course

Could've put my wording better but overall we're on the same page.

E is a no go though:)

I just signed in to my NameLiquidate.com account and there is no Submit button to submit my domain.

Any idea why?
do the domains have to be registered with epik ?

Yes. Been like that for a while.

Yes. Been like that for a while.

I remembered I submitted and just put in the autocode and viola...all done

so where else can I auction my domains for free?

Namepros? :)

Thanks for the kind words -

I should mention that we will be bringing back the ability to list domains at other registrars on NameLiquidate. We removed it because the code was simply not secure and had some frightening loopholes.

One of the first things we did when we acquired Epik's resources was a full security sweep.

We've resolved those issues and will bring back external domain listings as quickly as possible (because, honestly, our backlog is huge! We're always hiring good software developers! :))
