Diaz joins company that aims to rid the DNS of abuse.
Paul Diaz has joined CleanDNS as vice president of engagement.
CleanDNS helps registries and registrars eliminate domain registrations that are involved in abuse. For example, it recently worked with Sav.com to suspend 60,000 domains that were found to be repeatedly engaging in phishing, spam, malware, and other forms of DNS abuse and online harms.
Diaz spent the past 13 years at the .org registry Public Interest Registry, most recently as vice president of industry affairs.
Before that, he was Senior Policy Manager at Network Solutions from 1998-2011. He started his career as an intelligence analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency.
Writing about the move on LinkedIn, Diaz stated:
I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined CleanDNS! I look forward to working with Jeff, Alan and the rest of the team to leverage my industry experience and help clean up the Internet for good. CleanDNS should be an ideal fit for me and a challenging next step.
Of course, it was hard to say goodbye to Public Interest Registry after so many years. PIR’s exceptional people and unique mission will always hold a special place in my heart. Fortunately my new role is domain industry “adjacent” so I’ll still get to support them.
