New service makes it easier for domain registries to offer web3 capabilities.
Orange Domains, the registry behind .locker domains, has launched a new service that helps top level domains add web3 functionality.
.Locker is connected to web3 technology thanks to integration with Bitcoin Naming System (BNS).
Orange Domains’ new service is a white label platform that enables other registries to easily add the same functionality. It calls it Minting as a Service (MaaS).
Using MaaS allows registries to pitch web3 capabilities on their domains. Right now, those capabilities are somewhat limited, such as connecting to a wallet.
Don Ruiz, General Manager at Orange Domains, told Domain Name Wire via email:
Initially, it offers an introduction to DeFi applications and decentralized exchanges using Web3 names to resolve to digital wallet addresses. However, Web3 is still in its infancy for mainstream adoption, so as new applications are developed in Web3, Orange Domains is committed to partnerships and integrations with them, using Web3 digital identities offered through MaaS.
Orange Domains is a joint venture between Trust Machines, Hiro Systems, Tucows (NASDAQ: TCX), and Dish, an EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS) company.
