I waited 6 years for this sale. The buyers of my domain in the previous thread (Declined a € 950 offer on a € 0,99 domain) purchased the same domain name but with a different extension. After the sale, I registered the domain with other extensions, always ccTLD.
I always set the minimum offer to $849 on Sedo, just like for the other domain. They offered the lowest amount, but knowing that they are a company that has raised several rounds of investment, I rejected all offers until I accepted $9750. I was considering accepting lower offers too, but then I told myself, 'If these guys have raised millions, they might protect their digital brand identity by paying more significant amounts'.
If you're wondering how I found the domain name: I discovered it using a tool that I had built by a friend. Basically, this tool visits all the new Wikipedia pages in search of new words, to which it adds a .com and other ccTLD extensions to check if the new words have already been registered. After a few weeks, this fairly generic word came up that was available for registration. So, I registered it and waited for offers on Sedo. This tool now runs 24/7 looking for new dictionary words.
The nice thing is that this company chose a brand name that is also a generic term for something. So they couldn't even file a lawsuit because it's a modern word that has become part of everyday use, almost like a dictionary term.
