India expands national ccTLD with with Bank.in and Fin.in TLDs

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the introduction of two banking TLDs under the .in ccTLD: Bank.in and Fin.in.

The two TLDs will be regulating and issuing domains exclusively to Indian financial institutions.

The Institute for Development and Research in Banking’ Technology (IDRBT) will act as the exclusive registrar and registrations will begin in April 2025.

While banks will be issued Bank.in domains, other non-bank entities in the financial sector will be grouped in the Fin.in TLD.

India’s regulatory body for domains often issues strict regulations, going as far as to warn against investing in .in domains for monetary profits.
