Internet Commerce Association has opened nominations for a new award dubbed the ICA Trailblazer Award.

The award will “recognize and celebrate companies and individuals that have significantly advanced the domain name industry by creating an especially innovative product or service with lasting influence on our business.”

ICA’s nomination form notes that while the award is generally designed to honor trailblazing efforts from the past year, it can include efforts from any time if they’ve had a lasting impact on the industry. Also, while the general idea is to focus on companies, individuals may also be nominated. Nominees do not need to be ICA members.

Nominations are open until October 31.

The ICA board will approve the nominations and then open it up to a vote of all members.

The first Trailblazer Award winner will be announced at the ICA member meeting in January 2025. At that time, the organization will also recognize the latest winner of the Lonnie Borck Memorial Award, which honors an individual for contributing to and strengthening the domain investing community.
