How to Set CamelCase at Afternic for Large Portfolios

In April, I wrote about why I preferred the Dan.com landing page over Afternic’s landing page. One of the big reasons was the ability to use camel case at Dan, which could not be done at Afternic. I think the presentation of the domain name is much better with camel casing, particularly if a domain name has consecutive letters where one should be capitalized (BusinessSolutions vs. businesssolutions).

Recently, Afternic launched a new BIN landing page design inspired by Dan’s landing page design. The differences are that the new landing page utilizes a GoDaddy.com url and it is completely GoDaddy-branded. I think there is a greater level of trust for customers who know the GoDaddy brand but are not familiar with Dan.com.

With the launch, Afternic made it possible to set up camel casing for domain names using the landing page and other landing pages. One obstacle to setting this up is the conversion from lowercase to camelcase. This is a tedious job, and there isn’t a good way to do this in bulk within the Afternic platform. For someone with hundreds of domain names, it would likely take hours. For someone with thousands of domain names, the process is far too long to do it manually.

When I needed it done for more than 1,500 domain names I have for sale, I sent a list of my names with camelcasing and asked my Account Manager to change them for me. It was done fairly quickly because I provided an inventory list with proper casing. I am not sure if they have a way to automatically do it if a list with camel casing isn’t provided. You should reach out to an Account Manager to inquire.
