I’ve known Phil Harris for many years. He was one of the first people I know who invested heavily in the new gTLD domain names. Phil still owns a portfolio of about 2,000 one word and one letter domain names in these alternative extensions, and he told me he is approaching seven figures in sales over the years.
This morning, Phil reported that he sold the Green.Earth domain name for 82,000 EUR. This is approximately $85,000 USD at the time of publication. The domain name was sold with a three year payment plan facilitated by Escrow.com, according to the screenshots Phil shared with me. The final payment was made ahead of schedule, so the deal has fully transacted.
In looking at NameBio, I can see this domain name is the largest publicly reported .Earth domain name sale. Previously, the largest publicly reported sale was New.Earth, a domain name sold by Braden Pollock’s company for $18,800 in 2018.
It looks like Green.Earth is being used by a company called DGB Group. Interestingly, the company doesn’t reference the domain name in its logo or tagline.
