Almost all the market places take a percentage at the end of the sale. Not all charge a fee upfront. If you are starting I would suggest to go with Godaddy Auctions, Sedo and eventually move on to Flippa. The prices and fees are reasonable and if the domain is quality then it will be worth it.
You can learn more about each of these market places and the rest of them by looking them up in this forum. You can also list your domains on here for auction.

Hands down Flippa. At only 10% commission rate it is one of the LOWEST among the best. Godaddy and sedo charge around 20%, however from past trends, domains seems to sell at a higher price at sedo and godaddy auctions, not sure how this works or if its just coincidental but i personally still recommend Flippa if you are able to get tons of advertising and promoting of your auction

commissions can be irrelevant, when domains are priced accordingly
the important thing is, you don't want to pay anything upfront, just for the listing.
if one venue takes 20% and the other takes 30% and you want to net $1k....
then list with different prices on each, to compensate for variance in fee's.
imo....
I've been having good luck with Atom.com (previously SquadHelp) using Standard Listing. If parked at Atom, the commission drops to 7.5% for standard domains. Over the past year I found that about 2/3 of my sales were with Atom while parked with Atom with remainder of sales coming from Afternic. For a four month period, I parked all my Atom-standard names with Afternic and saw no difference in sales on Afternic, but a big decline with Atom.com sales. As a result, I park with Atom and list with both. I think a lot of Afternic sales come from domain searches (like Godaddy search) and parking with Afternic doesn't seem to give me an edge. As user biggie suggested above, I do mark up my names with Afternic since the commission is so much more at Afternic compared to Atom, especially when parked with Atom and not parked with Afternic.

I think this will be my strategy.
