Popular creator platform takes another stab at a rebrand.
Email marketing platform ConverKit has acquired the domain name kit.com ahead of a rebrand to Kit.
The platform hopes to become “the operating system for the creator economy” and believes the new name makes more sense for the company.
ConvertKit is taking a unique strategy to its rebranding process: rebranding in public. The company intends to fully switch to the new brand in September and will let people follow along throughout the process.
Perhaps this will allow the company to avoid some of its missteps when it tried to rebrand in 2018.
That year, ConvertKit CEO Nathan Barry came on the Domain Name Wire Podcast to explain why his company was rebranding to Seva. It scuttled those plans shortly thereafter after learning that the word had a deep religious and spiritual meaning to some people.
This time around, the company talked to customers ahead of acquiring the domain name. It will also go through its rebrand publicly, hoping to get feedback along the way.
