Armenia goes “on chain” with .AM blockchain mirroring Web2 onto Web3

Armenia becomes the second country to mirror its ccTLD, .AM, on the blockchain, using the technology provided by WebUnited.

Any .AM domain can now be mirrored on the blockchain, unlocking Web3 features without altering the name, workflow, or DNS setup—bringing seamless Web3 access to ccTLDs while preserving full Web2 functionality.

“With WebUnited’s technology, our customers can mirror any .AM domain to Web3 with just a few clicks,” said Nick from GlobalR and ArmeniaDomains.

“Whether you’re a startup, creative brand, or long-standing institution, .AM is not your average ccTLD-it now lives in both Web2 and Web3.”

The first country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) to be officially mirrored on the blockchain was .WS, the ccTLD for Samoa.

This milestone was achieved through a partnership between WebUnited, Freename, and Global Domains International, the registry operator for .WS. Announced in February 2024, this collaboration enabled .WS domains to be mirrored on-chain via the Polygon blockchain, allowing them to function in both Web2 and Web3 environments.
